El Remanso is that rare ecotourist vacation that blends the wonders of the rainforest with sandy Pacific Ocean beaches. Our lodge is on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica, one of the world's greatest ecologically diverse areas. The Osa Peninsula is host to over 700 species of trees, more than either the entire country of the USA or Canada. El Remanso Rainforest Wildlife Lodge is located half way between the town of Puerto Jimenez and the famous Corcovado National Park and is included in the Osa National Wildlife Refuge which now integrates over 5,000 acres. This wildlife refuge protects the biological corridor between Corcovado National Park and Cabo Matapalo.
Casa Osa can comfortably host large groups and families. The Casa Osa can accommodate up to 10 people. Delightful and comfortable 2 level house, with 3 bedrooms, 1 upstairs and 2 downstairs. It is completely screened with 2 bathrooms, hot water and electricity, forest and ocean views. There is a huge upstairs forest deck perfect for writing, meditation, yoga, painting, relaxation and birding. The ground level has a comfortable patio with lots of seating. The Casa Osa is ideal for families and groups.
El Remanso has 3 luxurious and comfortable 1 bedroom houses. They are fully screened and have a private shower, hot water, electricity provided by a micro-hydroelectric plant, queen and single beds and hammocks. Your cabina is a perfect retreat for reading, meditating, writing, studying, research or just relaxing. Each one has capacity for 2-4 people.
All the cabins have impressive forest and ocean views and are surrounded by lush landscaping. Minimal clearing has been done so that each cabina borders on the natural jungle environment. You can sit on your porch and have a good chance of seeing wild monkeys climbing in the nearby trees and hear the orchestra of jungle sounds without leaving your chair. Have a set of binoculars in hand, and you can spend hours bird watching. The 140 acres of El Remanso is home to a wide variety of birds ( see our birding list ). The sunsets from the porch are equally fantastic and once it gets dark, with no glare from any nearby town or city, the stargazing is exceptional.
La Vainilla, our Deluxe Cabina is built on a spectacular spot overlooking the forest and ocean. La Vainilla is a two story cabin, with two bedrooms, queen bed and private bathroom in each one. The upper floor is beautifully open to the incredible view while the bottom floor is closed. Hardwood deck and hammocks to enjoy your most precious time.

ZIP LINE TOURS
Within seconds of leaving your cabin you can enter the canopy world, riding a cable onto a platform that is 125 feet above the jungle floor. Enjoy spectacular birding and wildlife watching as you look down into a canyon of leaves and branches.
Horseback Riding: El Remanso offers Horseback Riding on the outstanding Pacific beach and through the primary growth rainforest. The tour is guided by Miguel Sanchez, our local neighbor, who with his eagle-eye is capable to see the most little creatures on the way. You will love his knowledge and amenity. Miguel will be waiting for you at 7:30 am down the trail, at the beach. The price is $35 per person.
Massage Therapy: El Remanso is pleased to offer professional therapeutic massage therapy. This massage is a combination of Swedish and Japanese techniques, with special emphasis on modulating the pressure to suit individual needs: deep, medium, or soft pressure. This massage is relaxing bodywork for men and women. The session is 50 minutes and is comparable to a professional massage at a SPA in the United States. $45 per session.
Joe Goodman, massage therapist, trained in the United States, and has 17 years of massage experience in Costa Rica or Dellanira Perez Naranjo, massage therapist, trained in Costa Rica, and has 8 years of massage experience. Reiki therapy is also available with Dellanira. If possible make your appointment one day in advance.
