Old Farm is graded 5 star by the English Tourism Council Set in the heart of the Cotswolds and at the source of the River Thames, this 17th century, Grade II listed cottage is situated in the attractive secluded hamlet of Tarlton; a small settlement which enjoys uninterrupted views over the Thames valley and the woodland of Cirencester Park. The local market town of Cirencester (4miles away) boasts a number of specialist shops and a variety of antique, craft and farmers markets, which are held throughout the week. The scenic villages of Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are located nearby whilst the Roman Villa at Chedworth, and the Arboretum at Westonbirt are just two of the delightful local attractions. Further afield, and easily accessible from Tarlton are the Regency city of Bath and Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon. Gloucester and Cheltenham are also within easy reach. This holiday cottage is one of the original farmhouses within the hamlet, predating the two present Manor houses. Standing in one third of an acre of well tended garden, surrounded by open fields, the cottage enjoys lovely open views and a peaceful environment. There is a south-west-facing patio with an established rockery on which many barbecues have been enjoyed. With all its charm and character, this 300 year old stone cottage is comfortably furnished and hosts a wealth of oak beams, exposed stonework and two large original inglenook fireplaces.
A traditional stone built cottage, Old Farm has a light spacious feel to it. It comfortably accommodates 6 people in three double bedrooms, (two twins, and one double). Two of the bedrooms have hand basins and there are two bathrooms.
Downstairs there is a superb large, well-equipped Smallbone kitchen with lovely views onto the garden and open countryside. A separate utility room leads to the downstairs cloakroom. The dining room happily seats 10 around its oak refectory table, whilst both the hall and dining room have wooden floors with rugs. The lounge is sympathetically furnished hosting a large open fireplace with exposed beams.
