A full day is necessary to visit all the monuments, to admire all the magnificent houses built in the typical "golden" stones of the region, and to stroll through the labyrinth of alleys. It is a real journey to the past. Sarlat is also very interesting for all its cultural activities, festivals, street exhibitions each night during summer. Sarlat is very well known as well for its regional cuisine and typical food markets. Don't forget to try the local products (foie gras, duck magrets, truffles, strawberries, cheeses, wines and liquors in one of the many restaurants of the old town.
