Le Manoir Nezement is an English owned 18th century manor house that has been lovingly restored to provide luxury apartments and a self contained gite, yet retaining its original character and is situated in the most stunning Normandy countryside in the town of Lonlay L'Abbaye.

The local village of Lonlay L'Abbaye is within walking distance and offers a beautiful insight into the relaxed French lifestyle with its quaint square with local bar, patisserie where the bread and cakes are exceptional, butchers, restaurant and small super market.

The accommodation offered is in either luxury apartments in the manor house or a self contained detached gite set at the rear of its extensive grounds.

Located in this breathtaking setting and with spectacular views, it is a paradise for walking and fishing enthusiasts. This is a great touring area. Historic Domfront is only 6 miles away and Bagnoles de l'Orne with its casino, pavement restaurants, sea water therapy and vast forests for walking and riding is 17 miles away. Climbing, fishing, golf and other sports are also available.

The history of the community is inextricably linked with that of the Abbey which was founded at the beginning of the 11th century by Count Belleme, Lord of Domfront, and given over to the Benedictine order of Fleury-sur-Loire (today known as St Benoit-sur-Loire).

Built on a shrewdly chosen site and surrounded by the Egrenne river, the Abbey at Lonlay has an undeniable spiritual and material influence on the region which spreads as far as England where three of its priories lie including St André de Stocke. This is now known as Stogursey and is twinned with Lonlay Abbey.

The Abbey witnessed difficult times with fires, pillage and being distanced from the more notable abbots. At the time of the Revolution there were only three monks left in the Abbey.

Today the Abbey has become the Parish Church.

The local ports of Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo are connected to us by some of the best road networks where more than three cars is classed as busy. It is due to this that touring the surrounding Normandy area is both very easy and stress free.

Our Gite (sleeps 4)
Le Cottage is a superbly renovated centrally heated cottage in the grounds of Le Manoir Nezement, an 18th Century English owned manor house which is situated in ten acres of the most beautiful countryside in Normandy. You will experience the calm and tranquillity that French country living provides where your only desire is to stay as long as possible.

The cottage has a charming rustic style lounge with genuine log burner for those romantic evenings, tv, video, dvd and stereo.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave, washing machine and all utensils including the essential cork screw for that amazing local wine.

There are two bedrooms one is a double and the the other is double size with twin beds. A cot is available. All bedrooms have spectacular views over the open countryside and have a light and airy feel which is most welcome on those balmy summer nights.

The bathroom is well equipped and is complete with a very large walk in shower room.

The cottage has its own private garden with barbecue area and allows for the maximum enjoyment of those long summer evenings. There are sun bed recliners, table and chairs.

There is also free wi-fi access to an excellent broadband facility so you can keep in touch with relatives and friends and send them photos of just what they are missing.

The Mortain Forest and walks along the River Cance are also nearby.
