Chez Rogers is THE Charentaise style holiday home rental in L'Absie, Deux Sèvres near the Vendée border in the region of Poitou-Charentes, France, ONE HOUR from the sunny sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast. There are 2 bedrooms, the living and dining rooms have divan/beds. Maximum 4/6 people. It is situated on the outskirts of the village near several farms. Opposite the house across the road is a garden. The village centre is a 5 min stroll. The local high school allows free internet access is a 5 min. stroll. The forest of L'Absie is a 15 min walk from Chez Rogers. The region of L'Absie is excellent for country walking and cycling. Pescalis one of the Premier Fishery Complex in Europe is 15 mins drive away from Chez Rogers. La Rochelle is 1.25 hrs away, Poitiers is 1.25 hrs, Nantes is 1.5 hrs, Cognac 1 hr. and Bordeaux is 2.5 hrs. away. Paris is 4.25 hrs away
You will discover Chez Rogers surrounded by fields, and wooded areas within easy walking distance. The village centre is but 5 mins. away. The forest of L'Absie is a 15 min walk from Chez Rogers, La Rochelle is 1.25 hrs away, Pescalis is 15 mins drive away from Chez Rogers. The entrance leads into the living room with comfortable sofa and armchair, TV, VCR, radio tape, DVD and CD player. The dining area has a large table and six chairs, buffet and divan. The kitchen is well equipped with butane gas water heater, electric cooker plus grill and oven, refrigerator, washing machine/spin dryer, vacuum cleaner, toaster, electric kettle, crockery, pots and pans, BBQ, utensils and everything you will need to be found in the dining room hutch. Leading off the living room under the stairs is a W.C. and a shower There is a hand basin upstairs on the landing above the stairs. The two bedrooms include a main bedroom with double bed, and the second bedroom with two single beds. There are sofa beds in both the dining and living rooms. There is electric radiator heating throughout the house. Although there are sheets and covers, guests from Continental Europe are requested to bring their own sheets, this does not apply to North American guests. Pillow slips and towels duvets and covers are provided.
L'Absie with its population of 1132, is centred around the remains of a medieval abbey patronised by Eleanor of Aquitaine, There are shops bars and restaurants. During the week on Thursdays the local baker, fishmonger, grocer and butcher bring a selection of their local produce to sell outside Chez Rogers / Rue de la Morinère. Several bakers come daily and the bulk wine merchant delivers weeklyon Fridays. There is a hard tennis court at l'Absie 2 miles away and more courts and a pool at Secondigny and La Chataigneraie.

The nearest city is ancient Parthenay, a small medieval city overlooking a river. Parthenay also known for its breed of cattle. There is a golf course at Mazières en Gatine near Parthenay. The local villages are very picturesque. The coastline with magnificent sands at Les Sables d'Olonne and La Tranche sur Mer, and the ancient, historic port and city of La Rochelle with its famous restaurants, splendid shops, quays and markets, museums, aquarium and boat trips are worth a visit. The Parc oriental de Maulévrier / The oriental park of Maulevrier is the largest Japanese style ornamental park in Europe.
Also worth visiting are the Puy du Fou with historic spectacles on a grand scale during the summer months, Futuroscope near Poitiers, the Zoo at Les Sables d'Olonne and Pescalis - the new International Fishing Centre, which is located 10 minutes drive from the house and caters for all the family as well as fishers. There is go-karting 10 minutes away and micro-light flying 10 minutes also.
There is pony riding in beautiful medieval Vouvant and pedaloes on a lake at La Tardière. There are many local restaurants in the area with good food all very reasonably priced. There are also chateaux to explore locally and markets for those who enjoy local produce at inexpensive prices. Farmers' markets take place regularly through the summer and vide greniers can be found in the area if you like hunting for antiques. There are local footpaths for those who enjoy exploring on foot and walking, and it is good cycling country as well. There is an indoor swimming pool at Moncoutant which is 10 minutes from the house by car and a lake with pedaloes, tennis court, boules ground and an open-air pool open through July and August for swimming at Secondigny, 10 minutes from the house.
