The apartment you'll stay in is on the completely renovated ground floor of a historical monument. It is equipped with under floor-heating which can be regulated individually for each room according to your needs (i.e. cooler bedrooms). The living-room and the bedrooms have parquet flooring, the other areas are covered with tiles.

Falkenstein (628m above sea-level)
Falkenstein, a picturesque town, has been recognised as a climatic health resort for more than two decades. It is surrounded by a beautiful landscape rich in forests, and overlooked by the castle. It has 1,700 inhabitants and is the administrative centre for the 3,000 inhabitants of the villages in its vicinity. All important services are available.
Apart from the castle with its Hunting Museum and its yearly Summer Festival, the estate - the second largest nature and rock reserve in Bavaria - attrackts lots of visitors each year. As does the former railway embankment to Regensburg, 35 nice km travelled by bike riders in the summer and cross country skiers in the winter.
Falkenstein itself has a picturesque market-place with a historic town hall, a heated open-air pool with a beach-volleyball field, mini-golf and Kneipp cure complex. The restaurants are very good and a huge array of dishes is on offer. A vast net of hiking trails and cross-country ski runs as well as possibilities to fish, shoot and play tennis are at your disposal.

Hiking:
During the season guided tours are organised as well as excursions to Prague and hiking tours to the mountains of the Bavarian Forest (Arber, Osser, Kaitersberg, Hoher Bogen, Großer and Kleiner Falkenstein, Lusen, Rusel etc).
Bicycle Tours:
You can enjoy a relaxed ride on clearly signposted cycleways (partly with bus transfers) or try a more challenging mountain-bike tour (guided tours possible); long-distance tours through the idyllic Bavarian Forest , e.g. the original European Cup route of the Arber marathon or around Roding, part of the International Tour de Baviere, are easily accessed as well. The cycleway along the river Regen leads you from its mouth in Regensburg near to its spring in Bayrisch Eisenstein, always following the river, the original source of life of the Bavarian Forest , of which numerous marvellous historical monuments still bear witness. From the Donau-Regen-cycleway you can make attractive trips into the Lower Bavarian corn belt in the Danube valley, called "Gäuboden". The cycleway on the former railway embankment from Falkenstein to Regensburg is also connected to the Donau-cycleway.
