The ground floor has been recently refitted 2002 and all modern amenities added with great respect to the pre-existing architecture, even the iron barred windows have been kept. Epidauros is the shrine of the Greek god of healing Asclepios, the son of Apollo. One may still see the foundations of the fifth century temple of Asclepios. Most tourist however come to Epidauros to see the theater the best preserved of all the Greek theaters. The spectators can see performances of ancient drama staged here each year during July and August.
