Castlerea's location is very central for touring County Roscommon and the West of Ireland. Castlerea was the birthplace of Douglas Hyde, first president of Ireland and also of Sir William Wilde, father of Oscar Wilde. Towns and villages throughout offers a range of attractions for the visitor. there a numerous Heritage sites, Visitor Centres, Historical Houses , Museums, Pet farms, Abbeys, Castles, 6 Golf courses within 10 minutes to a half hours drive, bowling, Angling {trout and coarse} on the River Suck and many lakes.
