For four centuries the story of the Mannaioni family has accompanied that of the town of Montaione with a long dynasty which has been part of the town up to a few years ago. Four centuries of remarkable people, feats and legends which, today, still echo within the walls of the old palazzo.
A family whose members have always played a key role in the public life of Montaione as notaries, priors, administrators, constructors, land owners and - as shown by the coat of arms over the door of the building - also as master glass-makers. The palazzo, adjacent to the walls of the Castle, was built at the end of the 16th Century and, with time, has undergone several changes. The present structure dates back to the 19th Century. A part of the building houses the living quarters and includes a large garden, a lemon grove, stables as well as areas dedicated to the hotel's farming activity: barns, cellars and oil-mill. An interesting feature of the palazzo is the underground passage which leads to the Piazza della Concordia and witch has given life to many legends and tales of mysteries and secret liaisons. Situated in the centre of Montaione, the palazzo has now been carefully restored to its former splendeour retaining much of its historical charm. The new owners have transformed it into one of the most exclusive hotels in the area by converting the living quarters into 5 suites and 24 rooms complete with bathroom, air-conditioning, direct telephone, hair-dryer, safe, radio, refrigerator-bar and colour Satellite TV. There is four types of accommodations: Single and double rooms. The "De Luxe" rooms that are particulary spacious and with a beatiful view over the hills of the tuscan countryside. The Junior suites that are even more spacious with furnished intermediate floor and a balcony with a splendid panorama. The hotel also offers all the comforts you would expect to find in such prestigoius surrondings, including a comfortable American bar, a reading room with a beautiful historical library, a fully equipped conference room and a garage.
