Celestun is a fishing village in the northwest corner of the Yucatan. It is also the location of the Parque Natural del Flamenco Mexicano (also known as the "Celestun Biosphere Reserve"). It is a 147,500-acre wetland area that has been set aside for the protection of pink flamingos, pelicans and numerous other bird species.
