Adjacent to the Whanganui River, Arles is only minutes from the city centre with the ambience of country-living on a 2-acre property filled with mature trees and bird-song.
Bedrooms have tea/coffee facilities, hair dryers and electric blankets, toiletries and fresh flowers. The rimu-panelled lounge is cosy in winter with the wood fire – just the place to relax with a complimentary wine or sherry and a book from the extensive library. During the warmer months, you can swim in pool (built in the 1950s but recently refurbished), take forty winks on the wide verandah or under one of the old established trees. There is a guest kitchen in the homestead as well a barbecue, giving you the choice of self-catering for lunch and dinner. Wanganui's restaurants are just 4km away. Four Accommodation Options * Wisteria - king bedroom with ensuite & private balcony; * Elms - queen bedroom with ensuite; * Grace Suite - 2-bedroom family suite with private facilities; * Treetops 2-bedroom (queen + twin) apartment for families of up to 6. Kitchen, lounge/dining room & balcony. Breakfasts: Our dining room looks through the conservatory (complete with grapevine) to the garden and swimming pool. The Arles garden provides fruit for the range of jams and marmalades that Sue makes with the fruit not taken by the native pigeons and tuis. Guests are welcome to dine outside at one of the picnic tables. Bedrooms have tea/coffee facilities. Guests in Treetops may have breakfast in the house at an extra charge. Young Children: A cot is available in the house and a portacot in Treetops.

Wanganui Taranaki Wanganui Local Attractions
There is much history in Wanganui and the surrounding area. Visitors should stay for at least two days. Wanganui is New Zealand's third oldest settlement and has some fine old buildings, most restored and painted in heritage colours. Children enjoy the brass-rubbing trail around the city centre. The museum has an extensive collection of Maori artifacts and a recreation of a Wanganui Street in Victorian times. Jet boat trips from ninety minutes to a full day leave from the river just minutes from Arles. Taking the all-day trip to the Bridge to Nowhere is a wonderful way of experiencing the river's beauty but also of learning about a bygone era. You can drive along the road to Pipiriki, stopping at little places such as Koroniti, Atene (famous for its skyline tramp) and Jerusalem (made famous by Mother Suzanne Aubert and James K.Baxter). At Pipiriki, you may wish to take a jet boat ride to the Bridge to Nowhere or continue along the road to Raetihi, returning via State Highway 4.
