Our aim at Greenbrae is to provide comfortable accommodation and facilities that visitors should expect while making as little environmental impact as possible. We will try to enhance the environment wherever possible. The mantra that we will use is ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’. We hope that our guests will help us to achieve this broad policy
Greenbrae is a 19th Century Farmhouse that has been extended and modernised to provide excellent ground floor accommodation. People who use wheelchairs can access all visitors’ rooms, and the garden.
Our spacious and comfortable double/twin bedrooms are ensuite with a bath and a shower. Each room has tea and coffee making facilities. Fruit and herbal teas and decaffeinated coffee are available. Each room has a hairdryer, shoe cleaner tissues and other bits and pieces you may find useful. A television and video player can be provided.
Our library is at your disposal that contains a wide selection of books, maps local information and a reference section to help you identify the wildlife you will encounter. It is a place to enjoy a quiet read, write letters or play chess. However you are warned that you may be distracted by the view through the patio door to the courtyard garden and it’s bird-feeding station.
Greenbrae welcomes cyclists and walkers as we have laundry, drying and ironing facilities available.
There is ample off road parking for all of our guests.
Breakfast can be provided from 6.30am, we know that some birders like an early start, and are available until 9.00am.
There will be a choice of cereals and fruit juices. You can have a cooked breakfast ranging from a ‘Full Scottish’ to scrambled or poached eggs. Toast, jam, marmalade and honey are always available and fresh fruit is provided. Evening meals, packed lunches, morning coffee and afternoon teas can be provided on request. We aim to grow as much of our food as possible in the garden. We have hens to give you eggs for breakfast Wherever possible we will source quality produce from Aberdeenshire and Scotland. This not only helps the Scottish economy but reduces the pollution that transporting goods emits. For the visitor it means that we will use best Aberdeenshire beef, Scottish bacon, locally made black and white puddings and of course Scottish porridge oats We also want to source food from organic farms. Where food has to be obtained from abroad we will use only fair trade products where these are available. We support our local Veg in a Box scheme and locally sourced, straight from the fields vegetables in season are delivered to us every Friday.
Greenbrae lies in the rolling farmland of Buchan. It is just minutes from the sea. The Coastal trail, Whisky trail and the Castle trail. Tourist board leaflets will help you to explore the area. There are many Pictish and prehistoric sites around including the Archeolink museum. The RSPB reserve loch of Strathbeg and the National Nature Reserve at Forvie sands and Ythan Estuary are only twelve miles away. Aden Country Park is just 3 miles away

Peterhead - the gateway to Buchan - is six miles from Longside. Peterhead is best knon as Europes bussiest white fish port but it has many other attractions. There is Ugie Smoke House - Scotlands oldest salmon smoke house, the Arbuthnot Museum that traces the histroy of Peterhead and a Maritime Heritage Museum.

Longside - is a thriving community, with facilities for fishing, football, golf, tennis and bowling, and a wide range of indoor activities. The Buchan and Formartine Walkway runs close by (following the line of a former railway) connecting the village with Peterhead, Maud, Dyce and Fraserburgh. It provides in essence a linear park, encouraging wildlife and is a haven for wild flowers.
Longside has a very different feel and character to the other so-called "planned" villages in the Buchan area. Its street pattern is irregular, rather than symmetrical.
