A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at Cortijo La Estrella, set at the foothills of the Sierra de las Estancias in six acres of almond grove with spectacular scenery, close to the Sierra Maria-Los Velez Natural Park, with easy access from the A92N motorway.
Cortijo La Estrella comprises a total of nine self-catering apartments, 6 two-bedroom apartments and 3 one-bedroom apartments with lounge, kitchen, bathroom/shower room and double/twin bedrooms. One apartment has been adapted for disabled use. All apartments have air-conditioning for heating and cooling. Extra beds and cots available on request.
Facilities include a bar with log fire, reception with information on the local area and outside there is a terrace with barbacue and a 12x5 metre swimming pool.
A meeting room is also available for groups/ training courses etc.
The apartments can be rented individually or as a whole for large groups. Group discounts and long term lets are available on request.
Accommodation is self-catering and packed lunches and evening meals are available on request.
An ideal location for discovering historic places of Andalucia and Murcia with the opportunity to enjoy such activities as walking, bird-watching, horseriding, painting, cyclying, paragliding, golf, sight-seeing or skiing in the Sierra Nevada.
Less than an hour to the sandy beaches of San Juan de los Terreros stretching to Mojacar and beyond to the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar, a haven for snorklers and divers.
The town of Velez Rubio is 10 minutes drive away, where one can find banks, supermarkets, butchers, bakers, post office and other amenities. There are tapas bars and restaurants in Velez Rubio and Velez Blanco. The towns of Puerto Lumbreras and Lorca are 15-20mins drive and offer good shopping facilities together with a large selection of tapas bars and restaurants.

Designated a Natural Park in 1987, Sierra Maria-Los Velez is a haven for walkers and ornithologists. It covers and area of more than 22,000 hectares with altitude range of between 800 and 2,045 metres. It supports a varied flora with nearly half of all plant species in Almeria province found here, including some unique to the Sierra. The park also has the largest selection of bird species in Andalucia, inclduing 17 species of bird of prey.
The area has several important historical sights including the Neolithic cave paintings at Cueva del Gabor, near Velez-Blanco and Cueva de los Letreros, UNESCO world heritage site, just outside the town of Velez Rubio.
Castillo de Fajardo, better known as the Castle of Velez-Blanco sits upon a spur of Mount Mahimon above the town of Velez-Blanco. With magnificent views through the Blanco valley, the castle appears on many postcards, books, and publications for the province of Almeria. It is considered one of the finest examples of Renaissance style in Spain, melding ingenious Gothic and Hispano-Moresque structurals to the architectural canons and ornamental motifs of the Italian Renaissance. The castle was declared a National Monument in 1931. Iglesia de Encarnation, Velez Rubio, was declared a historic National Monument in 1981. One of the best examples of religious architecture in Almeria. the main altar has a superbly detailed 20-metre-high carved wood retablo.
Lorca, a town with many historical sites including the Fortaleza del Sol (Fortress of the Sun) where you will be tranported to teh Middle Ages to discover the facinating history of Lorca, where leisure and culture, learning and fun are combined in an entertaining yet educational day out for all ages.
