There's so much to do and 2 weeks not enough time. For instance right on Palma Sola Beach you can go Horseback riding. This is virtually in your backyard! Check out wwww.beachhorses.com
You can walk, ride our bikes, or paddle our kayak to the miles of marked trails at TOP RATED Robinson's Nature Preserve on the safe Boardwalk. It's right across the street and is the most impressive nature Reserve I have ever seen. Here's some info and website;

Manatee County's newest baby - the Robinson Preserve - opened to the public July of 2008, offering over 400 acres of diverse marshlands, open water, and nature trails. There are 56 acres of marshland, 2 1/2 miles of kayaking and canoeing streams, 10 acres of uplands complete with 6 nature trails and as many bridges winding around the mangroves. The 500 foot boardwalk makes it a great location for bird watching, and the trails are great for hiking, biking and horseback riding.
Sponsored in part by the County Conservation Land Management, the preserve houses endangered species like the gopher tortoise, indigo snakes and the Florida Scrub Jay.
Boat launching is available at the nearby Emerson Point, and the Rye Preserve offers overnight camping facilities.
You can go to a different beach every day. Ride horses on Palma Sola Beach in your back yard. Or drive just 3 min to Manatee Public Beach, just down the road from that is Holmes Beach, Anna Maria Island Beach, Coquina Beach, etc. There's Marinas, Piers, Restaurants, Beach Volley Ball, Entertainment, etc. PLUS FREE Trolley that takes you everywhere!!
You should also consider seeing Mote Aquarium, Ringling Museum, both within 15 min drive (+/-).
A bit further is Busch Gardens about 45 min drive. WELL WORTH THE DRIVE!
If you haven't already been, Disney World is about 1.5 hour drive.
