Step back in time to the "Gilded Age" in a house built for entertaining Hannibal society, shortly before the turn of the century (1871). John L. Robards, an attorney and lifelong friend of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain), built this house for his wife and three children.
It boasts one of only two flying staircases in Hannibal, which circle all the way to the third floor. Massive pocket doors that separate the double parlors still slide smoothly after over 130 years of use. Three marble fireplace mantles still remain, along with some of the original patterned wood floors. The house is an example of classic Italianate, with massive woodwork and interior brick walls.

Some wonderful plaster coffered ceilings have been uncovered and restored. Many of the 9-foot windows still have the original inside shutters to shut out sun and cold.

Each room has a private bath, king or queen beds, in-room cable TV, and telephones. The dining room is on the first floor and coffee is available for the early risers who might want to take a stroll to the river before breakfast.

Breakfast can include cinnamon rolls or coffeecake, tea breads, biscuits, fresh fruit, quiches, ham, bacon, and sausage as well as juice, coffee or tea.

Standard rooms: $80 per night, plus tax
Mezzanine room (king size bed): $100 per night, plus tax
Deluxe room: (queen size bed and seperate living area): $120 per night, plus tax
