Built in 1832 as the homestead of the Safford family, the Inn of the Tartan Fox opened in 1999. The house is reminiscent of a country manor house with mahogany paneling, cobblestone fireplace, warm and sunny window seat and a spacious front porch. Each of the four guest rooms have a private bath with heated marble floors, two have a fireplace, all have TVs and air-conditioning and are decorated in a different Scottish tartan. A full breakfast featuring the “best scones ever”, fresh fruits and scrumptious entrees is served each morning and features local products whenever possible. For business travelers, wireless internet connection is available, flexible check-in/out times and early breakfast can be provided. We are only 3 miles from the many businesses in downtown Keene. Our convenient location makes the inn a perfect base from which to explore Vermont and Massachusetts as well as New Hampshire. Located nearby are 3 colleges, several covered bridges, great hiking and biking trails, antique stores and theater and art galleries.
The Terrace Room is on the first floor and has been designed to be ADA compliant. It is ideal for some one who uses a wheelchair or those who may have trouble with stairs.
The Manor Room is a spacious room with a view of the large lawn and old stone walls. With a fireplace for the winter it is warm and welcoming.
The Stewart Room looks over a vine covered pergola that blooms profusely in the summer with trumpet vine and climbing hydrangea.
The Blackwatch Room has casement windows on either side allowing the cool summer evening breezes to lull you to sleep.

Prices depend on the room, with rates from $85.00 to $135.00 and change slightly seasonally.
