The village of Boiling Springs is laced with history dating back to the 1700's. The iron industry was the main reason for its growth. The Carlisle Iron Works, one of the earliest blast furnaces in Pennsylvania was located near the springs. The remains of the original blast furnace still stands in the public park. The village of Boiling Springs has many handsome homes, some fronting on the lake. In 1984, Boiling Springs was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The area is alive with activities. The lake and the crystal clear Yellow Breeches creek are well stocked and are considered some of the best trout fishing areas in the country. The nearby Yellow Breeches Fly Shop handles fishing gear, locally tied flys, clothing and gifts as well as dispensing experienced tips for the novice or practiced fisherman.
