Cae Gwyn ('White Field') is a centuries old farm run on organic lines in the south of Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. We are situated at the foot of the Rhinog mountains, and the Rhinog range is unique in Wales as it is unbroken by any road, and parallel with the nearby coastal line of Cardigan Bay, affording spectacular views across Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula. The Rhinogs are also one stage of the Cambrian Way running the length of Wales. <br><br>Our SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) designated river, Afon Eden, is home to otters and rare and sensitive aquatic life, including Fresh water Pearl Mussels - the last breeding colony in Wales. In early autumn, salmon and brown trout come to spawn in the river. <br><br>We offer bed and breakfast and camping facilities in an unspoilt natural environment, and aim to provide an ecological holiday experience. Our guests are invited to walk freely around our 190 acre farm, where you may find a hidden picnic spot in the nature reserve next to the river on moss-covered rocks.<br><br>Cae Gwyn is an excellent base for mountain bikers, walkers and climbers and exploring the mountains of the national park and the outstanding natural beauty of surrounding areas. <br><br>For mountain bikers, we offer bike-friendly accommodation and lock-up/bike-wash facilities. As Cae Gwyn land borders the Coed-y-Brenin forest, you can leave your car and ride out for the day, straight from a farm gate through our land which leads directly to the Karrimor and MBR trails in the Coed-y-Brenin forest.<br><br>For walkers, public footpaths cross our land and provide one of the few close access points to the Rhinog range, one of which leads directly to the famous Roman Steps and the Cambrian Way. We have walking itineraries around Cae Gwyn and Trawsfynydd - please ask for more information if you wish to explore locally.<br><br>Cae Gwyn also offers horse riding /holidays. You can bring your horse with you to the farm and enjoy the new rides around the farm and surrounding mountains and forest.<br><br>We own the fishing rights of over a kilometre of Afon Eden so you can enjoy fishing anywhere on the farm at your leisure. You may also want to fish in the large lake in Trawsfynydd, the Mawddach river & estuary or in the Cardigan Bay at Barmouth.
