Where to stay in Sussex are destinations located due south from London and faces the English Channel. The area is located in the South East Region of England which also includes Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex. The administrative center of East Sussex is the town of Lewes. The area is known for it's numerous beautiful beaches. Many of the beaches in the area have small pebbles instead of sand, which are known as shingles. Pevensey Bay is a fishing village, but it is also known as where William the Conqueror originally landed. Hasting Beach has plenty of sand and shingle beaches. Seaford Head Beach has sheer chalk cliffs and the Seaford Head Nature Reserve. Seaford Bay has shingle beaches that extend for 4 miles. And then of course there is Brighton Beach and it's famous pier.

You can visit Bateman's Garden in Burwash, East Sussex to see the 17th century house and the 20th century garden that was made by Rudyard Kipling. It is a typical "Arts and Crafts" styled garden.

Enjoy visiting the Herstmonceux Castle Garden. Where you will find a castle, moat and gardens open for public viewing. Located in Hailsham, East Sussex.

The "Monk's House Garden" was owned by Virginia Wolf from 1919-1969 and is located in Rodmell, Lewes, East Sussex. It is open to the public.
