Warwickshire Vacations

Warwickshire is a landlocked county located in the West Midlands Region. The county capital is the town of Warwick. The area is known as "Shakespeare Country" since Shakespeare was born in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon and where he wrote many of his famous works which include the plays such as “Macbeth,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Hamlet” and “As You Like It.” Warwickshire is also the location of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford-Upon-Avon. Several of England’s most renowned authors and poets; George Eliot, Lewis Carroll, Rupert Brooke and Michael Drayton, were born in Warwickshire. There are numerous castles and manor homes in the area. Warwick Castle is a medieval castle that has been built on the ruins of a castle left by William the Conqueror in 1068. Kenilworth Castle is where Edward II abdicated the thrown.
