Sacatepéquez is a landlocked region of Guatemala. The capital of the region is Antigua. The region is located in the middle of the "Volcanic Mountains" which include the volcanos of Acatenango, Fuego, and Agua. The Acatenango volcano is not active, but the Fuego Volcano is active. Antigua Guatemala is the main attraction for this region due to its historical and cultural influence. If you like to get out and about then you could hike the Cerro de la Cruz which follows the Santo Domingo Mountain and provides amazing views of the valley below. Some of the municipalities in this area are: Alotenango, Ciudad Vieja, Jocotenango, San Miguel Dueñas, Santiago Sacatepéquez, and Santa Catarina Barahona.
