Bali is an island that has a mountain range in the center that was created from volcanos. There are a total of 4 volcanos currently active on the island. And many of the beaches are known for their black sand; mainly in the north, west and east beaches. Bali has become wealthy from the tourism industry due to their palm fringed beaches and unique culture. Located near the equator the climate is tropical year round. And this tropical climate contributes to the islands main agricultural product; rice paddies. The southern part of the island is the main tourist area with numerous foreigners taking advantage of the local investment climate. Although Indonesia is mainly Muslim, Bali's culture is tied to Indian Hinduism and Buddhism. There are estimated to be over 2,000 temples on the island as each town is required to have a minimum of 3 temples: pura puseh (temple of origin),pura dalem (temple of the dead) and the pura desa (village temple).

If you enjoy surfing then you need to head out towards the beaches of Kuta and Legian which are on the opposite side of Sanur. The town has many attractions including Shops, Kecak dance performances, pubs, and other facilities that make Kuta a fun destination.

Jimbaran Beaches of Bali
Jimbaran is another tourist resort that gained notoriety during the Bali bombings of the 2005. However, the village is growing due to the tourism industry. It is located on a narrow peninsula with two different beaches located on either side. Face the Bay on the west are the newer luxury resorts. On the west, Jimbaran Beach faces the Jimbaran Bay, recently lined by new luxurious resorts and other Bali villa rentals. The eastern beach is calmer and has a view of Benoa Harbor.
