Montalcino Vacations: Things to see while on vacation in Montalcino Tuscany

Montalcino Italy sits at the top of a hill surrounded by their famous vineyards with views toward the town of Siena in one direction and in the other direction the beautiful Val di Orcia. It is as if time has stopped, the main street winds in hairpin curves up the hill to the center of the village. The town is surrounded by a wall with vineyards stretching just outside the wall as far as the eye can see. Their wine is world famous, Brunello di Montalcino, because of the micro climate that envelopes the village. Huge olive trees grace the farms with their subtle grey green colored leaves and rugged trunks. Small dirt roads wind for miles as an entrance to the farm and the vineyards that disappear in the dust from the tractors tending the land. Grizzled farmers drive through the land with an intense vacant look, planning their harvest or planting for the upcoming season.
