Westmoreland Parish is located in the most westerly point of Jamaica and covers 303 square miles. The capital of the region is Savanna-la-Mar. The main tourist area is Negril and their beaches which are rated as one of the top ten beach area in the world. Another popular tourist destination is Bluefields which has white sandy public beaches. Moor Reef is where you can go snorkeling to see the abundant marine life. The town of Bluefields is known for being one of the 1st original Spanish settlements on the island. And Bluefields is also known for being the home of the famous pirate, Henry Morgan, who later became the Lieutenant Governor of Jamaica. The Parish of Westmoreland is known for its fishing and agricultural industries. Sugar cane, coffee, ginger, allspice and rice are grown in the parish.
