Northern Region Vacations
The Northern Region of Malta starts in the north with the picturesque coastal resorts of Mellieha and St Paul's Bay. St Paul is home to the famous Golden Sands Beach and offers many aquatic activities, tours, and some excellent restaurants to keep you entertained. Mellieha has the Air Raid Shelter, Parish Church, St Agatha's Tower, Popeye Village, Paradise Bay, and Armier Bay Beach as its most popular attractions. Adjacent to Mellieha, the Il-Majjistral Nature and History Park offers some of the most stunning views and amazing rock formations along the coast. The North also boasts two of the Megalithic Temples of Malta that have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Moving further inland to the south, the historical gem of Mdina is located, one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient walled city dating back more than 4000 years. Its narrow, timeless streets are still lamp-lit at night and are lined with fascinating medieval and baroque architecture. Mdina has many names, including the silent city and the noble city, the latter being a medieval name and depicting the noble lineages that have inhabited this district through time. Not far away from Mdina, the cultural treasures of Rabat beckon to art and history fans. St Paul's Cathedral Museum in Mdina and Catacombs in Rabat are the favorite haunts of history and architecture lovers. Several art galleries and museums located in the two cities take you back in time, and plenty of mouthwatering eateries spread across the whole Region keep you from starving during your short road-trips.
