The Panama District of Panama stretches along the Panama Bay and includes the country capital, Panama City (population 1.5 million). It's southern border stretches across the Gulf of Panama and Panama Bay. It also includes numerous islands in the Panama Bay which include Isla del Rey. The Soberanía National Park runs through the northern interior of the Panama District. The park is popular with birdwatchers because you can find over 400 species of birds in the park. Camino de Cruces National Park is a few miles outside of Panama City and there you can find a waterfall, rainforests and lots of birds. Located in the eastern section of the Panama District is the Chagres National Park which covers over 320,000 acres and helps provide water for the transportation of the boats through the Panama Canal.
