Aberdeenshire Vacations

Aberdeenshire is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland and is located in the northeastern region of Scotland facing the North Sea. It shares a border with Angus and Perth and Kinross to its south, Highland and Moray to the west, and Aberdeen City to the east. Aberdeenshire is known as “Scotland’s Castle Country” where you can find over 300 castles and historic homes with a distinctive Scottish architecture that will remind you of the glorious history of the region. The most famous castle is Balmoral, which is used as the summer residence of the British Royal Family. The region has a varied landscape, from lofty highlands to a number of rivers and bays. Aberdeenshire lies in the shadow of the Grampians, a mountain range stretching across the Scottish Highlands, where you can go hiking and walking along ancient roads and paths like the Causey Mounth and the Elsick Mounth. The area has numerous ancient archeological sites including the Longman Hill, Kempstone Hill, Cairn Lee. Or if you prefer more traditional activities, you can spend your day golfing at one of the over 50 splendid golf courses spread across the region which includes the sixth oldest golf club in the world, the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club. Or indulge in tasting the local whiskey with the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, at one of the centuries old distilleries of Aberdeenshire.
