Marbella Vacations: Things to see while on vacation in Marbella Andalucia

Geography of Marbella Vacations

Marbella represents a city and municipality in the south of Spain. This belongs to the Malaga province and is under the Andalusia autonomous community. It is a part of Costa del Sol and is also a part of the headquarters of ‘Association of Municipalities’ of that region. This is also the head of a judicial district under the same name. Marbella is on the Mediterranean Sea, right between Malaga and Gibraltar Strait, on the foothills of Sierra Blanca. This municipality has an overall area of 117 sq. km. and is crossed with highways near the coast which are in fact the main entrances.
The town is the 2nd most populated city in Malaga province, and is 8th in all of Andalusia. Due to the climate and infrastructure, this is a popular tourist location.

Marbella has land that extends over 44 km on the coastline of Penibetico region; sheltered with slopes of the coastal mountains like Palmitera, Bermeja, Royal, Alpujata and White sub-ranges. Due to this, the city has a gap between north and south, and has a combined view of the sea and the mountains are seen from every direction. The coastline is urbanized, with plenty golf courses and small residence areas. On the north, Marbella is bordered with Ojen and Istan, on the northwest with Benahavis, the west with Estepona and northeast with Mijas. On the south, there is the Mediterranean Sea.

Sierra Blanca foothills, lower hill country, plains, Sierra Blanca, coastal dunes. Sierra Blanca is in the province and looks over the village. The mountain range is triple-peaked: La Concha with 1.215 meters, Juanar Cross with 1.178 meters, and Mount Lastonar with 1.270 meters.

There are many coastal plains due to eroded mountains. After the plains, there are areas of 100-400 meters with lower hills and steep slopes.
The coast is sandy and low, an all beaches extend to the east, all the way to fishing ports and Cabopino. Even though the coast is urbanized, it is still an area with dunes like the Dunas de Artola at the east side of town.
The climate in Marbella has a nice microclimate protected by the north and coastal mountains of Cordillera Penibetica. The average temperatures are 18 degrees Celsius. The highest mountains are covered with snow that melts in a day. The rainfall is 628 L per sq. m. and sunny days are total 2.900 per year
