Situated among some of the finest mountain scenery to be found in Southern Spain, amidst cork oak and chestnut forests, the cottages of Molino Rio Alajar provide a comfortable retreat in a unique Spanish setting.
The six stone cottages stand on raised ground on the right bank of the river, commanding views over the valley and surrounding hills. The dark golden and honey hues of the chestnut beams and windows, together with the reddish tones of the hand-made clay tiles, suffuse the rooms with an amber light.

Walking, hiking, horse riding and mountain biking are key activities in this delightful rural region. The Dutch owners of the Molino have a sound knowledge of the area and detailed walking routes and itineraries are available.
Donkeys can be hired on an hourly basis for guided treks through the countryside and at at appropriate times there are also guided mushroom-gathering walks.

Spain's largest wildlife sanctuary and World Heritage Site, the Coto de Doñana National Park, is not far to the south. This is one of the last untouched parts of Europe, visited by a great variety of migrating birds, and one of the remaining strongholds of the lynx. On the coast there are fishing villages and some of Spain's finest beaches; while Seville, the lively Andalusian capital, is accessible for daytrips.
