Originally called Quarter of Castries, now the region is home to the capital of the St Lucia island, which also has the name of Castries. The regions extends along the west coast of St Lucia from Marigot Bay in the south and includes La Toc Beach ending in the north at Choc Beach. The Castries section is also one of the most developed area of St. Lucia. The majority of the population of the district is located in the main city, Castries City. The area also has many beautiful beaches. Choc Beach is popular with families. Donkey Beach is small and picturesque. La Toc Beach is near the Sandals Resort. Labrelotte Bay is near the Treasure Bay Casino. Malabar Beach is one of the most popular with plenty of food vendors available. Marigot Bay is a yachters paradise and also known for it's mountain backdrop. Roseau Bay is very unspoiled and charming.
