Zermatt Vacations: Things to see while on vacation in Zermatt Valais

Zermatt is a small alpine village with a population of just over 5500 located in a beautifully lush alpine river valley that is surrounded by four of the highest mountains in the Swiss Alps. The main attraction is the Matterhorn which soars to over 14,000 feet and has a peak that rises almost perpendicular, which has made it one of the most difficult mountains to ascend. Success in climbing the Matterhorn is elusive, but hundreds if not thousands have attempted with 100s of deaths that add to the mystery of the mountain.
