Cordillera is a landlocked region in the northern section of Luzon Island. Through the region runs the Cordillera Mountain range which has some of the highest mountains in the Philippines, reaching 9,587 feet at its highest point. The region's main city is Baguio City which is known as the "Summer Capital of the Philippines" because of the city's fabulous weather which is a result of the surrounding mountain range. It is a land of terraced rice paddies that have been dramatically carved into the mountains over 2000 years ago and the indigenous cultures that retain their heritage and traditions from another era.
