Antalya Vacations: Things to see while on vacation in Antalya Mediterranean

Anatalya Geography

Antalya is the largest international seaside resort in the country of Turkey. The city is also the biggest Turkish city you’ll find anywhere on the coast of the Mediterranean. A record number of tourists, topping 12.5 million, visited Antalya in the year 2015, surpassing its population of 2 million many times over. This hub of international tourism, the fifth most populous city in all of Turkey, is located in the southwest corner of the country, and is a part of the Turkish Riviera, also known as the Turquoise Coast.

Located in the Turkish Riviera the city is known for being a “Mediterranean paradise” because of its spectacular beauty, with its hundreds of miles of white beaches lining the coastline between the crystal waters and wooded mountains. Olives and avocados grow among the pine trees. In many places, the elevation rises suddenly and steeply, and in some areas, the trees slope all the way down to the coastline. The city of Antalya is part of the province bearing the same name. The region is tucked between the Mediterranean coast and the Taurus Mountains. 77% of the region is topographically mountainous.

Climate-wise, Antalya partakes in the hot summer Mediterranean climate of the whole Turkish Riviera. Three out of the four seasons are warm or hot, and on average, there are 300 days of sunshine per year.
